I figured it out this weekend! Maybe it's coincidental that Ben Wakeman has been at Adobe MAX in Chicago this week, but nevertheless, it all kinda jelled for me.
Since the Allaire acquisition by Macromedia, I was long concerned that the investment we had made in ColdFusion was going to vaporize. We had built a rock solid CMS platform and made a big investment prior to the M&A activity. So, I watched patiently, read a lot trying to keep my finger on the pulse to see if I could anticipate what would become of us, what would become of ColdFusion. I struggled with this issue for some time.
My struggle continued after Adobe bought Macromedia and then Flex arrived. For me, the technology didn't really matter as much as the promise of what the technology could do for a business. And I began to have a limited sense of what Adobe had planned for us.
Now I'm sold. I see it. We're building more and more competencies in Flex daily, clients are enjoying the benefits of the RIAs we've built, and now with Adobe's LiveCycle and AIR coming on strong, I think I have a deeper sense into the ethos of Adobe.
The future looks really bright with Adobe, and I'm loving it.
